Boiler Girls victorious over Bureau Valley

On Oct. 2, the KHS varsity volleyball team won two sets against Bureau Valley High School, 25-14 and 25-20.

Taylor VanWinkle’s serves were particularly strong, with 10 service points earned throughout the sets.

Along with Kendyl DeBlieck’s five kills and Macee Pickering’s eight assists, these points pushed the Boilers to a decisive victory.  

In terms of defense, Pickering stood out with seven digs, with VanWinkle close behind with six digs.

A big moment in a home game earlier this season.

Kendyl DeBlieck: 1 ace, 4 service points, 4 digs, 3 assists, 5 kills

Claire Taylor: 2 aces, 7 service points, 3 digs, 2 assists 

Macy Anderson: 2 service points, 2 kills

Aaliyah Duarte: 1 ace, 2 digs, 4 kills, 2 blocks

Ava Laue: 1 kill

Macee Pickering: 2 service points, 7 digs, 8 assists, 2 kills, 1 block

Damaris Diaz: 1 kill, 4 blocks

Ra‘Kiya Amos: 2 service points

Taylor VanWinkle: 3 aces, 10 service points, 6 digs

Kewanee’s sophomore team won in two sets, 25- 17 and 25- 13.

Bureau Valley prevailed over the Kewanee’s freshman, 16- 25, 25- 16, 10-15.

The KHS volleyball team will be in action against the Alleman Pioneers on Monday, Oct. 7 in Rock Island.
