Sherry “TD” Welch, Board Chair
Sherry “TD” was educated in the Kewanee Schools and graduated with a master’s degree from the University of Illinois. She has had a variety of experiences along her journey from being a Kewanee principal and teacher, to corporate trust work in Los Angeles, and lastly for 25 years as a realtor developer in Franklin, TN. Finding a way to give back to Kewanee has been a top priority for her. TD and her dog, Hopper, are avid campers and travel throughout the US in a teardrop trailer. They have logged well over 20,000 miles since 2020.
Paula Kapacinskas, Board Co-Chair
Paula works remotely at CompTIA as Senior Manager, Membership Engagement. She also serves on the Kewanee Park District as Commissioner since 2021. Paula attended Kewanee schools and graduated from Kewanee High School and attended Black Hawk East College and the University of Iowa where she graduated with a Bachelor of Art in Communication Studies and minors in Journalism and Mass Communication and Sociology. She has worked in publishing and marketing throughout her career and feels passionate about the written word and providing Kewanee with a written newspaper. Paula lives in Kewanee with her two chihuahuas, Tiny and Buddy.
Jean Berlinski, Treasurer
Jean was born and raised in Kewanee. She attended Visitation Grade school, Wethersfield High School and Black Hawk College. After spending a few years in the Quad Cities and in St Louis, Jean moved back to Kewanee in the late 1980s. She has worked at Johnson Appliance in Kewanee since 2001.
Jean has been team captain for the family’s team “Georgia On My Mind” in the Chicago PurpleStride pancreatic cancer walk since 2011. The team has raised over $35,000 in memory of Jean’s Mom, Georgia.
In her free time, Jean enjoys a good glass of wine with friends, an afternoon of card playing with family and spending Sunday mornings with her partner Tim making breakfast and doing crafts with her granddaughters.
Van DeVilder, Board Secretary
A Kewanee native, Van graduated KHS in 1987 and served in the US Navy during Desert Storm/Desert Shield. He was hired right out of the Navy in 1991 by Kewanee Boiler Manufacturing as a fire-test technician and is currently employed with Black Hawk College in Moline. His community involvement includes serving on the Civil Service Commission and volunteering to coach park district softball for seven years. In his free time, he enjoys cooking on the weekends, grilling out, traveling and riding around town in his golf cart.
Jesse Humphrey, Director
Jesse is a financial advisor for Edward Jones in Kewanee. He was born and raised in Galva. After graduating from GHS, he attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and obtained his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He then worked as a design engineer for a sports construction company in St. Louis. His last project before moving back to the Kewanee area was the Kewanee High School turf football field.
After living in the St. Louis area for 10 years, Jesse decided to pursue his passion and move back to Kewanee to start a career as a financial advisor. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, skiing, hockey and watching Chicago sports teams. He lives in Kewanee with his wife,
Paige, and their two cats, Larry and Layla.
Marianne Culver, Director
Marianne is a counselor with Henry County Youth Services Bureau and has been in the social services field since 1994. She was born and raised in Kewanee and graduated from Kewanee High School. She then graduated from Black Hawk College and Western Illinois University. Marianne is married with four children. In her free time, she enjoys researching Kewanee History as well as Genealogy.
She manages the Kewanee Historical Society and is the cohost of the podcast Kewanee Memory Lane.
Local news has been important to her since a young age. The Kewanee Voice is a great source for Kewanee news. Marianne wanted to be a part of keeping Kewaneeans informed.
