Kewanee’s traveling youth baseball teams have good season

Two local traveling youth baseball teams excelled in recent tournaments.

The Kewanee A’s 13U baseball team earned a second-place finish at the Mother’s Day Bat Bash AAA Tournament May 9–10 in Bettendorf, Iowa. The A’s finished the competitive weekend with a 3-2 record.

Earlier this spring, the A’s also captured second-place finishes at the PreSeason Showdown in Milan the 42 Legend Series in Bettendorf.

Kewanee’s 13U team is, from left, Coach Jason Burkiewicz, Gavin Cernovich, Beckham Burkiewicz,, Calvin Peart, Reggie Hicks, Jax Wolf, Cole Dybek, Ayden Finney, Kade Nichols, Graham Galle, Cash Anderson, Paxon Huber and Coach Josh Hicks.

And the Kewanee A’s 10U team brought home the championship title at the Hitmen Mother’s Day Buckle Up Tournament in Rock Island after an undefeated 4-0 performance.

The A’s showcased determination, teamwork, and explosive offense throughout the tournament. In bracket play, the team defeated the Moline Blackhawks to earn a spot in the championship game.

In the title matchup, the A’s powered past the Clinton Mudcats with an impressive 23-13 victory to secure the championship. The 10u A’s are coached by Brandon Ince, Joey Hicks, Mike Miler and Josh Wolf.
