Whether you have an issue with your laptop, phone, or tablet, Doug is here to help. Stop in on Feb. 29 between 3:30 and 5 p.m. with your device and Doug will help you troubleshoot or demonstrate how you might get it to do what you want.
Science Book Club is back
We’re excited to announce that the Science Book Club is back. The first meeting will be March 27 at 6 p.m in the Community Room. Alan Abbott will be here to lead the discussion on The Big Ones: How Natural Disasters Have Shaped Us (and What We Can Do About Them) by Dr. Lucy Jones. Isaac Stewart, of Black Hawk College, will be here to facilitate the discussion at our April 24 meeting.
Thanks to our amazing Friends of the Library group, who are sponsoring this book club, participants will receive their own copy of each book discussed, which means seats are limited for this book club. Be sure to stop in and reserve your spot today. Books for the first discussion will be available to be picked up starting on Monday, Feb. 26.
Henry County Genealogical Society
As part of their monthly meetings, the Henry County Genealogical Society welcomes a variety of interesting presenters. The meetings are the fourth Monday of each month at 1:30 p.m .in the library’s Community Room. The next meeting is Feb. 26. Bill Scott will be here to talk about Colonel Gary Miller and His Connections That Impacted Our Lives 50 Years Later.
Creativity at the Carnegie
Do you enjoy knitting, crochet, embroidery, cross stitch or quilting? Come and join us at the Kewanee Public Library in the Community Room on the second Tuesday of each month from 4-6 p.m. This is an adult group sponsored by the Friends of the Kewanee Public Library for those who would like to enjoy the camaraderie of others while creating their own fiber projects. Youth Programming
Our Winter 2024 session of Baby to Pre-K Storytime returned after the holidays. Babies to Pre-K aged children are invited to join our youth staff for songs, action rhymes, stories and games. Join us Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. through Feb. 27. Reading to children helps develop their brain, enhances their ability to focus, and improves social and communication skills. Stick around after Storytime for Stay & Play with our sensory building toys.
Our Storybook STEAM to Go kits have continued to be popular. This month you can stop in to grab a kit and read Love Monster by Rachel Bright then design your very own monster with the materials provided. And don’t forget to send us pictures of your creations to kewaneelibrarycr@gmail.com to be featured on the library Facebook page.
We’ve already hosted our in-house craft for our elementary age patrons, but the PreK crowd and their caregivers are invited to come in Feb. 14, 15 and 16 from 2 to 6 p.m. or Feb. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. We’ll be making heart suncatchers.
Don’t forget about our grab n’ go crafts! The newest are kits to make colorful groundhog shadows. They’re available now, so stop in to grab yours today.
