Geese lose a close one to Mallards

The Flying Geese boys basketball team faced a very close game against the Henry-Senachawine Mallards on Wednesday. After putting up a tough fight, the Geese lost 54-45.

The match started with the tip-off from the Mallards to gain possession of the ball. Both teams started strong, showing much aggression all around. The first point was a free throw made by the Mallards, but shortly after, Kruz Galbraith swished a three-pointer.

Both teams showed incredible defense during the first half of the game, making the score 25-21 with Henry in the lead. The gym could feel the energy coming from both sides of the court.

The Flying Geese came out strong to start the second half, with a bucket from the three-point line made by Collin Hodge. There were numerous fast breaks with neither team being able to have a significant advantage. 

The fouls became more frequent, and the game escalated. The score was 37-35 with the Mallards up by just two points by the end of the third quarter.

The Geese could not pull through during the fourth quarter and lost 54-45.

The top scorers for the varsity game were Galbraith with 19, followed by Hodge with 10.

Alejandro Garcia outshone in rebounds with nine, alongside Hodge with eight. Drew Hornback and Garcia both led the team in assists.

The Flying Geese junior varsity team brought the win home with the final score of 29-25.
