
Wethersfield and Annawan went to 2-0 in the Wally Keller Invitational Tournament Tuesday.
The Geese notched a narrow 46-42 win over Bureau Valley, while Annawan had an easier time with Stark County, winning 66-44.
In other tournament action Tuesday, Elmwood topped Putnam County 62-43.
The Flying Geese and Storm were neck-and-neck throughout the game, with Wethersfield leading 10-9 after one quarter and Bureau Valley tying it at 18-all at the half.
It was still tied, at 31, after three quarters. But the fourth quarter saw Wethersfield outscore Bureau Valley 15-11.
Zeb Rashid scored seven of his game-high 17 points in the fourth quarter. Castin Rash added 16 for the Geese.
Led by a 17-point effort from Cole Goodley, Annawan also went to 2-0 in the tournament.
The Braves took a 19-14 lead after the first quarter and expanded it to 37-23 by halftime.
Brody Childs had 13 for Annawan and Maddux Heitzler added 10.
Ross Saner led the Rebels with 13 points, and Dillon Steelman had 12.
Bo Windish scored 20 points to lead Elmwood, which took a 23-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Putnam County bounced back with 21 in the second quarter but still trailed 35-23 at the half.
Elmwood also got a 15-point night from Oliver Thornton and 10 from Quintin Johns. Braden Bickerman scored 10 for Putnam County.
