Galva police report for June 24-30

June 24:

The police, fire department, and Stark County Medic responded to a complaint of a high-pressure gas line that had been struck and was leaking in the 1100 block of North Center Avenue. Ameren was contacted and they were able to shut the gas off.

Police and Stark County Medic responded to an activated medical pendant in the 100 block of NE 6th Avenue.

Police responded to a report of a loose and aggressive dog in the 200 block of NE 2nd Street.

Police responded to a traffic complaint involving a juvenile driving a lawn mower in the 200 block of SE 3rd Avenue.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 100 block of NE 4th Street. The dog’s owner arrived before the officer and took the animal home.

Brandon Swank, 28, Galva, was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after police responded to a disturbance involving a subject threatening family members with a knife in the 500 block of SW 3rd Avenue.

June 25:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line call in the 300 block of South Center Avenue. It was determined to be a child playing with a phone.

The police, fire department, and Stark County Medic responded to a possible suicide attempt after a gas stove was left on, the thermostat was turned up, and the resident was found unresponsive at a residence on SE 8th Avenue. The subject was transported by ambulance for evaluation/treatment.

Police responded to an activated medical alarm in the 00 block of NE 9th Street. It was determined to be an accidental activation.

Police were notified about a juvenile warrant issued for a Galva address. The subject in question moved from town a few months back.

Police responded to a utility wire complaint where two phone lines were pulled down by an unknown vehicle in the 400 block of NW 1st Street. Frontier was notified for repairs.

The police and the fire departments responded to an activated smoke detector in the 100 block of SE 2nd Avenue. The fire department handled the situation.

Police responded to a disorderly conduct complaint in the 100 block of NW 7th Avenue.

Police responded to a trespassing complaint in the 300 block of NW 3rd Avenue.

June 26:

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 200 block of NE 1st Street. The dog owner was on the scene and was able to get the animal back home.

Police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 900 block of West Division Street. This complaint was unfounded.

June 27:

Police responded to an abandoned vehicle complaint in the 400 block of SE 3rd Avenue. The officer found a note that said the owner would have the vehicle towed.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 100 block of SW 7th Street. The officer recognized the dog and returned it to the owner.

Police responded to a request to assist the Kewanee Police Department in attempting to locate a subject to check their welfare. The officer was unable to locate the subject.

June 28:

Police responded to a report of a physical domestic disturbance involving threats with a firearm in the 100 block of Main Street. The suspect had left the scene before police arrived. A shotgun was removed.

Police responded to a report of two loose dogs running in a yard in the 600 block of SE 2nd Street. The officer was not able to locate the animals.

Police conducted a low-speed vehicle inspection in the 600 block of NW 1st Street.

Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department to fill out a Freedom of Information Act request.

June 29:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 100 block of SE 2nd Street. It was determined to be a child playing with a phone.

Police responded to a request for assistance by the Kewanee Police Department with a welfare check at Sentry Estates after a verbal family dispute in Kewanee. The subjects were fine.

June 30:

Police responded to a vehicle vs deer collision on Route 34 just east of town. The deer was dispatched, and a crash report was completed.

A battery complaint was made in the 300 block of SW 4th Avenue.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 00 block of NW 7th Avenue. The dog was impounded.

Police responded to a medical emergency involving a child in front of the Galva Police Department. The child was transported by ambulance.

Police responded to a two-vehicle accident with airbag deployment at the intersection of SE 2nd Street and SE 1st Avenue. A crash report was completed.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up complaint that was plotted at a cell phone tower in the 400 block of NE 9th Street. The officer did not locate anyone needing assistance.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 900 block of SE 2nd Street. The officer was not able to locate the animal.
