Children of all ages are invited to attend a Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration.
The party is hosted by AmeriCorps members, who are serving for the Sunshine Community Services Center, and will be held at the Kewanee Public Library on Monday Jan. 20 from 10 a.m. to noon.
The celebration is a come and go event and will feature activities, books and games.
Youth from the community and surrounding areas are invited to attend with their parents and learn about MLK’s values of courage, truth and justice.
AmeriCorps members will read books to attendees about Dr. King, and birthday cake and other snacks will be served.
“Over the years, this has been an informative and enjoyable activity for the community,” said Etta LaFlora, executive director of Sunshine Community Services Center.
