
Kieryn Abernathy collected four hits in four at bats, as the Kewanee Boiler Girls defeated the Fulton Lady Steamers 11-3 on Wednesday.
Abernathy doubled in the third inning and singled in the first, fifth and seventh innings.
Kewanee opened the scoring in the first when Macee Pickering singled, scoring leadoff batter Dani Currier.
The Boiler Girls added to their early lead in the top of the third inning when Abernathy doubled, driving in two runs, and Lyric Duytschaver drove in another run with a single.
Kewanee scored five runs on four hits in the top of the seventh. Addy Yepsen doubled, scoring one run, Audrey Clucas singled, scoring one run, Evelyn Schiltz grounded out, scoring one run, Dani Jo Currier drew a walk, scoring one run, and a passed ball scored one run.
Kalleigh Gale started in the circle for Kewanee, giving up two hits and no runs over four innings, striking out five and walking none. Duytschaver appeared in relief for Kewanee.
Kewanee tallied 13 hits in the game. Abernathy, Duytschaver, Pickering and Currier each collected multiple hits and Currier stole three bases.
