Galva police report for Feb. 23-March 1

Feb. 23:

A welfare check was conducted at a residence on SW 4th Street. The subject was fine.

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to return a cell phone that had been stored as evidence until a case was resolved.

Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department for a possible theft complaint.

Feb. 24:

Police watched for a vehicle being driven with very low lighting at the east edge of town. The vehicle was located, and the driver was having alternator problems. The vehicle made it home.

Police responded to a subject who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Feb. 25:

Police responded to an activated panic alarm in the 200 block of SW 2nd Avenue. It was determined to be a false alarm.

Police were notified of a vehicle repossession taking place in the 200 block of SW 6th Street.

Police responded to a reckless driving complaint at the north edge of town, which was coming towards Galva. The officer was unable to locate the driver.

Feb. 26:

Police assisted a citizen with a ViN verification in the 00 block of SW 1st Street.

Police responded to a reckless driving complaint at the east edge of town near Black Hawk College. The officer did not locate the vehicle.

Police assisted the ambulance with a medical alarm activation on SW 4th Street. It was determined to be a false alarm.

Kayla Capps, 33, Galva, was issued an administrative warning ticket (AWT) for allowing a dog to run at large, following police response to a dog bite complaint in the 300 block of SE 5th Street.

Police assisted the ambulance with a patient who fell in a driveway west of town.

Feb. 27:

Police conducted a low speed vehicle inspection at the Galva Police Department.

Police met with a violent offender against youth registrant to update their employment records.

Police met with a resident to complete a Freedom of Information Act request form at the Galva Police Department.

Police responded to a small fire complaint in the 00 block of NE 4th Avenue. It was supervised by a resident.

Police dispersed several juvenile subjects playing basketball at Wiley Park after the park’s closing time of 10 pm.

A 17-year-old from Williamsfield was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 00 block of SE 2nd Street.

Feb. 28:

Police responded to a loud music complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

A loose dog was reported in the 400 block of SE 6th Street. The officer was unable to locate the animal.

March 1:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang up in the 900 block of SE 2nd Street. The officer was unable to locate anyone needing assistance.

Police responded to a civil property dispute in the 100 block of NE 6th Street.

Police conducted a welfare check at a residence on NW 5th Avenue. The subject was fine.
