Wrestling team gets two wins and a tie

The Kewanee wrestling team traveled to Aledo Thursday for a triangular meet with Mercer County and Sherrard.

The Boiler mat men defeated Mercer County 52-27 and tied Sherrard with 36 points. The team then went to Rock Island Friday and beat Alleman 66-15.

Mercer County

Earning WBF (win by fall)/PIN against Mercer County were:

126 – Hunter Vancil over Miles Ward

132 – Chance DeSplinter over Christopher Gomez

215 – Alejandro Duarte over Lucas Shadden

Winning via forfeit were, Gideon Richards at 106 lbs., Kingston Peterson (116), Trenton Edens (120), Micah Newton (144), Waylan Lambert (157) and Brayden Johnson (165).

Sherrard

Earning WBF/PIN against Sherrard were:

138 – Ben Taylor over Jacob Fratzke

175 – Joey McGuire over Colton King

Winning by decision were:

113 – Kingston Peterson 6-3 over Braden Krahl

132 – Chance DeSplinter 11-7 over Bri Bynum

Winning via forfeit were, Trenton Edens (120), Alejandro Duarte (215) and Daniel Boswell (285).

Alleman

Earning WBF/PIN against Alleman were:

126 – Hunter Vancil over Tony Garcia

138 – Dontel Wommack over Hope Swails

215 – Alejandro Duarte beat Joey McGhee

285 – Daniel Boswell over Jordan Thompson

Winning by decision were:

144 – Ben Taylor 9-6 over Adam Jacks

157 – Waylan Lambert 13-1 over Mark Schott
