Fourth graders at Wethersfield Elementary School held a craft fair Friday for students from kindergarten through third-grade.

The crafts were all made by the students from recycled materials, said fourth-grade teacher Julie Swedman. They then set up booths to sell their creations to their fellow students.

This is the second year for the craft fair and the idea for the event came from the book “The Lemonade War.” The book is about two siblings who are upset with each other and end up making a bet to see who can make the most money on a lemonade stand. The book teaches principles of economics and financial literacy.

The fair was set up in the gym and students were given tables to display their crafts. Among the items being sold were clay necklaces, bracelets made out of rubber bands, tissue paper butterflies, piggy banks made out of coffee cans and jewelry boxes crafted from plastic cups.

The proceeds from the craft fair benefits the Hog Capitol Wildlife Rescue and Rehab.
