Village of Cambridge launches new concert series

By The Kewanee Voice    August 26, 2025

The village of Cambridge is launching a brand-new concert series, “Sounds of the Village” that will bring free live music to College Square Park.

The series will debut with two concerts in 2025 with plans to expand into a full summer lineup beginning in 2026. The concert series will mainly focus on showcasing local and regional talent.

The inaugural shows will feature:

● Thursday, Aug. 28 – Half Catholic and chrash
● Thursday, Sept. 11 – Jerm Theory and Zach Pietrini

All concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. and last approximately two hours. The free concerts are open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and are welcome to bring their own food and drinks.

“This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” said John Taylor, a local music advocate who helped spearhead the project. “College Square Park has been steadily improved over the past several years—new sidewalks, pavilion upgrades, lighting, landscaping, sound equipment—and now we’re ready to bring the space to life with live music.”

Taylor credits the village of Cambridge for investing in the park and supporting the idea of a permanent concert series. He also applauds Logan Meier, who will manage the series, calling this “an important step toward making live music a sustainable part of life in Cambridge for years to come.”
