The Tag Days Fundraiser for the Step Ladder Tutoring Program will be held over Labor Day weekend, Friday & Saturday, Sept. 1 and Sept. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both days.
Volunteers will be stationed at Save-a-Lot and Walmart stores to accept donations.
“We sincerely appreciate the continued support from both school districts, volunteers, AmeriCorps members and staff who have tutored seventh and eighth grade students over the last 12 years,” said Execcutive Director of Sunshine Community Service Center, Etta LaFlora.
The funds raised from the Tag Days help ensure that participating students receive help with homework, projects, test preparation, free books, snacks, and school supplies throughout the year.
“Our goal is to help middle school students become responsible for their own education and improve their attitude toward school and learning. The schools have done a great job in working with us as we assist students in our program. We try to encourage students by letting them know their future is in their hands, and they can follow a path that leads to a better life,” said LaFlora.
