Two good outings for KHS wrestlers

Kewanee hosted a meet against IVC in Good’s Gym on Dec. 12. The Grey Ghosts forced the Boilers to work for their win, which hinged on a five-point margin (35-30). By the end of the action, Kewanee won six matches, and IVC won five.

Boilers second in Peoria

On Saturday, Dec. 14, the Boilers hit the road and competed in the Porta Invitational. With 174 points, Kewanee placed second among 32 competing schools. 

Thirteen Boilers competed in Bluejay Country, six of whom placed for their respective weight class.

Tyson Currie (senior, 10-3) placed 4th at 113 lbs. and scored 14.0 team points.

Kingston Peterson (junior, 10-4) placed 5th at 120 lbs. and scored 15.0 team points.

Lain Taylor (sophomore, 10-2) placed 2nd at 138 lbs. and scored 24.0 team points.

Ben Taylor (senior, 14-1) placed 3rd at 150 lbs. and scored 23.0 team points.

Ace LaFollette (freshman, 10-4) placed 5th at 175 lbs. and scored 16.0 team points.

Alejandro Duarte (senior, 11-2) placed 3rd at 215 lbs. and scored 24.0 team points.

In order of their weight class, the following seven Boilers contributed 58 points toward KHS’s grand total: junior Hunter Vancil, junior Chance DeSplinter, junior Dontel Wommack, junior Brayden Johnson, senior Joey McGuire, junior Douglas Swearingen and senior Leocadio Gandarilla.
