Titans sweep doubleheader at Princeville

The Annawan-Wethersfield Titans improved their season record to 14-5-1 with a doubleheader sweep of Princeville Saturday.

In the first game, the Princes took an early lead, scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning.

Annawan-Wethersfield went ahead for good with a three-run second inning. They added a single run in the sixth and added two more in the seventh for the final score of 6-1.

Four Titans — Kellan Keane, Zeb Rashid, Caleb McGill and Dillon Horrie — each drove in a run in the game.

Colin Hornback started on the mound and gave up the lone Princeville run. Koeyn DeClercq and Rashid pitched shutout innings. In all, Titans pitchers had eight strikeouts and three walks.

In game two, the Titans jumped out to a three-run lead in the top of the first. They had two-run innings in the third and fifth, and added single runs in the fourth and sixth innings.

Horrie and Maddux Heitzler combined to shut out the Princes on seven hits, preserving a 9-0 win for the Titans.

Keane, Hornback and Nic Thurston each drove in two runs in the nightcap, and Hornback had a home run. Single RBIs were recorded by McGill and Horrie
