Titan girls win LTC conference title

The Annawan-Wethersfield Titans scored 112 points and emerged as LTC champions on Friday at the Lincoln Trail Conference meet in Monmouth. 

Mercer County placed second with 91 points and Cambridge came in third with 83 points.

Top 5 finishes for the Titans

The Titans won three events en route to winning the LTC meet. Senior standout Kennady Anderson won the 400 meter dash and ran a leg on the winning 4×800 relay team. Paige Sierens, Alexis Wilson and Camryn Anderson make up the 4×800 team. 

The third win was by Tyra Jones who had a leap of 15′ 6.25″ to win the long jump for the Titans. Jones also placed fourth in the 200 meter dash.

Anderson also placed second in the 800 meter run (2:18.36) and was part of the 4×400 relay team that finished second in a time of 4:14.45. The other three members of the relay are Kaylee Celus, Clara Bella VanOpdorp and Camryn Anderson. 

VanOpdorp had a runner-up effort of 12.24 in the 100 meter dash. Also placing second were Paige Sierens in the 3200 meter run (13.29.20) and Alexis Wilson in the 300 meter hurdles (49.31). Wilson also had a fourth place finish in the 100 high hurdles (18.54). 

Kaylee Celus placed third in the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:05.01. Also placing third was the 4×200 relay team of VanOpdorp, Wilson, Emilia Escareno and Jones. 

The Titans had three other fourth place finishes. Camryn Anderson was fourth in the 800 meter run (2:26.10). The 4×100 relay of VanOpdorp, Alevia Dickens, Escareno and Celus (53.34) and Ava Salazar in the triple jump (31′ 0). 

Elle Eastman had a fifth place finish in the discus with a throw of 92′ 0.
