
The Kewanee Central School wrestling team participated in the Illinois Elementary School Association Regional 8 meet Saturday in Aledo (at Mercer County High School) and 13 Kewanee wrestlers advanced to the Rockridge Sectional meet.
The elementary school program consists of wrestlers in fifth through eighth grades. Those placing in the top three in each weight class at the Aledo Regional advanced to Saturday’s sectional meet.
Regions 5-8 will converge at the Rockridge Sectional and the top four places in each weight class will qualify to compete at the 2024 IESA state wrestling meet.
Saturday’s sectional meet will start at 9 a.m. and will be held at Rockridge High School. The state wrestling meet will be held March 8-9 at the Convocation Center on the campus of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.
