After 35 years of serving home‑cooked meals and homemade baked goods, the owners of Lisa’s Place off Highway 6 in Atkinson have announced they are closing the restaurant’s doors.

Owners Lisa and Ted Brants shared the news in a recent post on the restaurant’s Facebook page.

“Several reasons have convinced us to be done,” Lisa Brants wrote. “I am taking some time off to deal with health issues as is Ted.”

The couple said they will miss the customers and friends who have become “like family.”

“You never know where I may end up,” Lisa wrote. “I plan on still baking. I keep telling myself I am moving on. When one door closes, another one opens.”

She added that she is looking forward to spending more time with her family.

Under the Facebook post announcing the news, customers expressed sorrow to see the restaurant close but also wished the couple well.

According to the post, the restaurant’s last day of service will be Friday, March 13.

“Thank you for the memories,” she wrote.

Lisa’s Place has long been known for its homemade pies and desserts, generous portions, country‑style cooking and fresh baked bread.

The restaurant is open five days a week, Monday through Friday, offering both dine‑in and takeout service.
