In the kitchen with Kim: Vanilla Coffee Creamer

Coffee creamer is a necessity for my morning routine. I was a late-in-life coffee adopter, and black coffee is still too much for me. I need a little sweetness and creaminess to make my morning coffee feel comforting.

I have loved coffee creamer for years, but I started paying closer attention to the ingredients in some of the bottles at the grocery store. A lot of them contain oils and additives that just don’t feel right to pour into my coffee every morning. For a while, I intentionally bought the creamers labeled with “clean” ingredients. This homemade version is definitely not health food, but it still feels better knowing exactly what goes into it.

Now that I make homemade coffee creamer regularly, my kids have become coffee people too. If we start running low, we can make another batch in just a couple of minutes with ingredients we already have in the kitchen.

I remember stopping at a gas station late at night once because I realized I didn’t have creamer for the next morning. That felt a little dramatic at the time, but fellow coffee drinkers probably understand.

This recipe is sweet, creamy and tastes just like a classic vanilla creamer from the store. It is delicious in hot coffee and really good in iced coffee too. It also costs so much less than buying premade creamers. We bought a pourable jar with a spout, which makes adding it to coffee quick and convenient.

From our kitchen to yours — enjoy!
