Strike up the band! Kewanee Schools Foundation presents “100 Years of the KHS Band” concert

By The Kewanee Voice    May 10, 2024

For months, the Kewanee Schools Foundation has been paving the way for a special day. The day will finally arrive on Saturday, May 11 when a concert, featuring the 100th Anniversary Wind Ensemble, will take place on the stage at the Kewanee High School’s Petersen Auditorium

The concert is set to begin at 7 p.m. and the general public is not only invited, but encouraged to attend. Tickets are $5 at the door, and there will be a silent auction in the auditorium lobby before the concert and at intermission, as well as a 50/50 drawing.

Refreshments will be provided after the concert in the Golby Student Center. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.

The proceeds raised from the event will go to a good cause, with the goal to raise $7,000 for a PA system for the KHS Music Department, which will enhance the performance of the marching band and concert band at events and competitions.

Jeff Johnson, executive director of the foundation, recognized the people and businesses who helped to make the concert a reality.

“The Kewanee Schools Foundation wants to thank the generous sponsors that make all of this possible. We are excited to be involved in supporting this event and look forward to a great evening and yet another opportunity to enhance the education of the students of the Kewanee School District,” he said.
