The Wethersfield School District finished off the school year with their annual Track and Field Day. The students participated in eight events that featured the water balloon toss, the long jump, the egg race, the 30-meter dash and the hula hoop.

Elementary Principal Gus Elliot led students in the water balloon toss and the winners got to break a water balloon over his head. This is Elliot’s final year as principal for the school district and for him, he said the day was bittersweet.

The elementary students wrapped up their track and field events at 9:15 a.m., and the older students participated in their events from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Afterwards, attendance awards were handed out before prize drawings and a raffle.

Students then received a picnic lunch, provided by the school, with dismissal at noon, officially ending the 2022-23 school year.
