
The Boilermakers won on the road Saturday, Dec. 21, at Riverdale.
“It was a very intense and a highly competitive game for four quarters,” Boilers Coach Dayton Ince said. “The score was back and forth for the majority of the game.”
The Boilermakers were able to hold a lead at the end of the first (12-10) and second quarters (22-20).
After halftime Riverdale went on a run to take the lead into the fourth quarter, 35-32.
“It took a few stops and some buckets for the Boilermakers to take control of the lead and from that point on we never looked back,” Ince said. Greyden Lewis was a perfect four for four from the free throw line in the last minute to close the game out.
The final score was 51-47.
“We were a perfect 3-0 on the week and improved to 6-5 on the year,” Ince said.

Kewanee High’s varsity Boilermakers got back to .500 on the year at 5-5 and 1-1 in the conference with a 55-46 win at Hall.
“The first quarter was a low-scoring battle with shots struggling to fall,” Coach Dayton Ince saids. The score after 8 minutes was 7 to 7.
The Boilermakers would then put 25 points on the board in the second quarter to take a 32-22 lead into halftime. The second quarter scoring was sparked by a couple of Griffin Hicks threes.
Hicks had 11 points on the night, all in the first half.
In the third quarter the Boilermakers picked up where they left off and extended the lead to 17 points at the end of the quarter. They gave up just four points in the quarter, making the score 43-26.
Hall made a run in the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to four at one point but the Boilermakers would prevail by taking care of the basketball and knocking down some free throws.
Other leading scorers were Brayden Conley with 16 and Catrelle Reed with 11.
The Riveters traveled to Hall Township High School for a rematch of the JV Colmone Classic Championship Game played six days earlier and came out with a 48-32 victory.
Led by 16 points by co-captain Isaiah Ince, the Riveters played their best game yet, according to Coach Matt Costenson.
The visitors held the host Red Devils to just 32 total points in route to the 16-point victory. Also contributing were 11 points by Chris Crowe off the bench and Dayvon Robinson with 9 points.
Riveters fall by one to Riverdale
The Riveters were the second game to tip in the quadruple header vs. the Riverdale Rams JV Saturday, Dec. 22.
Trailing by two after the first quarter and at the half, the Riveters found themselves in a battle the whole game, Coach Matt Costenson sai“There was a six-point deficit in the fourth quarter and we fell short in our omeback bid, this time by one point,” Costenson said.

The freshman tipped off against Hall for a triple header on Friday afternoon, losing 36-46.
“Offense struggled early on for the team, scoring six and eight points respectively in the first and second quarters,” Coach Trenton Terry said.
Hall applied a lot of ball pressure early, forcing the Boilers to turn the ball over and into some tough shots.
The Boilers trailed 14-22 at the half. Starting the tbird, much of the same occurred for the Boilers where they were settling for a lot of three-point shots, allowing Hall to get easy buckets in transition.
The energy finally started to come from the Boilers where they were able to win the fourth quarter, but it was a little too late.
Despite having three players in double figures, the Boiler Girls dropped a game at Riverdale Dec. 21, 48-42.
Tejhiana Amos led the Boiler Girls with 11 points, which included two three-pointers.
Adding 10 apiece were Damaris Diaz and Bailey VanWinkle.
