Red Devils take down Boiler Girls

The Boiler Girls hung with the Hall Red Devils for the first half of Thursday’s TRAC-East matchup, but Hall played the spoiler on Senior Night at KHS and won 56-35.

Kewanee seniors, Avery Yepsen and Hannah Tiska, were recognized during a pregame ceremony Thursday for devoting four years to the Kewanee girls basketball program. 

Kewanee held a slim 12-11 lead after the first quarter, but Hall began pulling away in the second quarter and took the 23-17 lead at the halfway mark. 

Halls’ Ella Sterling scored eight points in the first half. Her teammates McKenna Christiansen and Charlie Pellegrini each added six points. 

Tejhiana Amos and Mya Dearing led Kewanee with seven and six points in the opening half. 

Hall outscored Kewanee 33-18 in the second half (16-9 and 17-9) to get the 56-35 conference win.

Sterling scored another dozen points in the second half and Christianson added 11 more for the Red Devils. 

Sterling led all scorers with 20 points, while Christianson followed with 18 and Charlie Pellegrini chipped in with nine points.

Damaris Diaz scored 12 for Kewanee, Dearing had nine and Amos finished with seven.
