Princeton outlasts Boiler Girls

The Boiler Girls had Princeton on the ropes for three quarters of play Thursday night in Kewanee, but the Tigers used a big 19-10 fourth quarter push to thwart the upset-minded Boiler Girls. 

Kewanee led 16-4 after the first quarter and 22-17 at the half. Tejhiana Amos scored eight first quarter points to help give the Boiler Girls a 12-point lead. 

Princeton bounced back with a 13-6 second quarter, but Kewanee maintained a five point lead at the break. Damaris Diaz chipped in with six first half points. 

Princeton’s momentum spilled over into the third quarter as sophomore sharpshooter Camryn Driscoll made two 3-pointers and scored eight points to lead to the Tigers to a 35-point tie. Amos added five more points for Kewanee in the 18-13 frame. 

Driscoll connected on two more threes in the final quarter (totaling four in the second half) and her teammate, Miyah Fox, scored seven points down the stretch as Princeton rolled to the 54-45 TRAC win. 

Amos made two treys of her own in the fourth quarter and scored eight of Kewanee’s final 10 points.

Driscoll led all scorers with 25 points and Fox tallied 15 on the night for the 13-6 (4-1) Tigers. 

Leading the way for Kewanee (6-14, 3-3) were Amos with 21 points and Diaz with 10 in support. Bailey VanWinkle made two 3-pointers for six points.
