For music lovers in Cambridge you will find not one, but two great concerts taking place. Families head over to Atkinson Heritage Days. There you’ll discover great food, music and activities to keep both children and adults happy. And for those looking for something to nourish the soul and help fight in the battle against cancer then the beautiful Windmont Park is where you’ll want to be. This weekend is Relay For Life’s main event. It’s a unique, at times emotional and yet a truly uplifting experience.
Here’s a comprehensive list of what’s happening out and about this weekend.

Friday, Aug. 22:
Atkinson Heritage Days kicks off a two-day celebration with activities taking place at Veterans Park – Paint the Park 3 – 6 p.m., Community Supper from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m., Little Miss Flame Pageant at 6:30. There will also be a Pyrotechnic Party featuring; games, activities, music and food from 6 p.m. to dusk followed by a fireworks display.
Ca d’Zan House Concerts in Cambridge will host acclaimed singer/songwriter Keith Rea at a 7 p.m. performance with a potluck and social hour held prior from 6 – 7 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 23:
Atkinson Heritage Days – Day 2 BBQ Cook Off 7 – 8 a.m. set up with Judging at 4 p.m., Atkinson Firemen’s Parade at 1 p.m., Kid Games & Activities 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. & Tractor Pull at 11 a.m., Pie Contest & Auction at 2 p.m., Petting Zoo 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., Bingo 3 – 5 p.m., Cornhole Tournament 3 p.m., Rolle Bolle Tournament 6:30 p.m. and Street Dance 7 – 11 p.m. There will also be Food Vendors, Craft Beer and Crafts. The Discovery Depot Children’s Museum in Galesburg at 128 S. Chambers St. will have a Beautiful Butterfly Sun Catcher workshop from 10 a.m. to noon.
Henry / Stark Relay for Life will hold their main event at Windmont Park from 6 – 10 p.m.
Evening activities include: Opening/Survivor Ceremony at 6 p.m., Survivor Lap at 6:30 p.m. followed by a survivor reception, Open Walk from 7 to 9 p.m., Luminary Ceremony at 9 p.m. with a Silent Auction at the shelter house from 4 to 8 p.m. There will also be face painting, pony rides, food trucks and stands.
Sunday, Aug. 24:
Ca d’Zan House Concerts in Cambridge hosts The Conor Mallon Band. There will be a potluck and social hour from 6-7 p.m. with the concert starting at 7 p.m.
Monday, Aug. 25:
KHS Girls Golf at St. Bede – 4 p.m. – at Spring Creek Golf Course
KHS Tennis at East Peoria – 4:30 p.m.
KHS V Soccer w/Limestone – 4:30 p.m. at KHS
KHS JV Soccer w/Limestone – 6 p.m. at KHS
