With Santa knee-deep in toy making, sleigh tune-ups, gift wrapping and reindeer training, he was far too busy to sit down for an interview with The Kewanee Voice. Thankfully, Mrs. Claus graciously stepped in to share a few insights about the jolly man from the North.
Mr. and Mrs. Claus both made their annual appearance at the Windmont shelter this year during the annual Windmont Park Lighting on Sunday, Dec. 7.
Here’s five questions with Mrs. Claus:
What’s Santa’s favorite cookie that is left out for him on Christmas Eve?
Santa loves all cookies as you can see by the size of his big belly. Santa’s favorite of all would have to be a cut out sugar cookie with lots of yummy frosting and of course sprinkles.
Mrs. Claus, do you have a favorite holiday recipe that you make for Santa after a long night of deliveries?
Santa has a big appetite when he gets home, and I have all of his favorites ready on the table. He loves pot roast, garlic mashed potatoes, gravy, brown sugar glazed carrots, green bean casserole, hot rolls and coconut cream pie for dessert. I also make a big batch of carrots for the reindeer for all of their hard work. We can’t forget our animals.
Mrs. Claus, does Santa have a favorite reindeer?
Santa loves all of his reindeer. Rudolph has an extra special place in Santa’s heart. Ever since that foggy night years ago when we discovered Rudolph had superpowers with his nose and could light up the whole sky and lead the way to everyone’s house.
Does Santa ever get cold flying through the night?
Santa sleigh has a magic force field covering it that is temperature controlled. He still wears layers of clothes to keep warm when he gets in and out to deliver all of the toys.
What do you and Mr. Claus do to relax after the big night?
After Santa has made sure every boy and girl on his Good List has gotten their toys, and he can head back to the North Pole, he eats his big meal I’ve prepared for him and we put on a good Netflix movie, stir peppermint candy canes into our hot chocolate and fall asleep before the movie is even over.
