The Wethersfield Lady Geese won their last two games and ended the regular season with an impressive 25-4 record.

In their final game of the season Thursday night, Wethersfield handily defeated Farmington by a score of 65-31 and they beat Galva, 39-16, on Wednesday.

The Lady Geese have played three games in four days (all wins) and the game against Farmington marked Wethersfield’s seventh straight victory.

In addition, they made a good run at the LTC title with a runner-up effort of 9-2. West Central won the hard-fought conference title with an unblemished record of 11-0 and Annawan finished in a tie for second at 9-2.

As a reward, the Lady Geese were mentioned in the final AP Class 1A poll (receiving one vote). In all, four LTC teams were listed in the final poll and two of them — Annawan (No. 3) and West Central (No. 8) — were ranked in the Top 10. Abingdon-Avon received three votes.

Frosh-soph

The Wethersfield frosh-soph team put a 61-8 hurt on Farmington during the junior varsity prelim Thursday night. The Lady Geese ended their successful season with a 20-1 record.

With such a talented group of underlings, it’s safe to say that Wethersfield will be in more of a reloading mode next season rather than rebuilding.

Lana Scott led the Lady Geese with 17 points in the win over Farmington. Camryn Anderson followed with 16 points and Emilia Escareno had nine.
