Lady Geese win two at Erie Warkins Classic

The Wethersfield Lady Geese went 2-0 Wednesday at the Cliff Warkins Memorial Classic in Prophetstown. They defeated Rockridge 50-32 and Stockton, 46-37.

Rockridge

The Lady Geese used a strong 20-4 first quarter to beat Rockridge, 50-32.

Lajaya Angel scored seven points in the opening frame and nine points in the first half en-route to a 27-15 Wethersfield halftime lead. Paige Huffman tossed in three treys in the half, scoring nine points as well.

The Lady Geese outscored Rockridge 18-10 in the third quarter and 23-17 in the second half to cruise to the 50-32 win.

Kennady Anderson scored 11 third quarter points for Wethersfield and Laikyn Parchert scored eight for the Rockets.

Angel led the Lady Geese with 14 points, Anderson had 13, Huffman scored nine and Lana Scott added eight.

Parchert scored nine points in vain for the Rockets.

With the win, Wethersfield moves to 11-2 on the season, while Rockridge slips to 4-11.

Stockton

The Lady Geese had a strong 29-10 first half and went on to beat Stockton, 45-37.

Cora Hodge made two first quarter threes and Kennady Anderson scored 11 first half points to lead the Wethersfield charge.

The Blackhawks outscored the Lady Geese 14-11 in the third quarter and 12-5 in the fourth, but Wethersfield benefitted from a 19-point first half cushion.

Anderson added eight more points to her total in the second half. She led all scorers with 19 points. Hodge added nine points in the win.

Madie Mammoser led Stockton with 15 points.

Wethersfield is now 12-2 overall and Stockton is 7-8.
