The Lady Geese girls’ basketball team took home a double win from both their varsity and junior varsity teams on Wednesday against the Lady Rebels of Stark County.
The junior varsity won with the final score of 27-15. It was an aggressive game with both teams being in foul trouble, but the Lady Geese took the win easily.
The varsity game started slow with a tied score at the end of the first period, 8-8. At the start of the second period, the Geese took the lead with both three-pointers and free throws contributing. The aggressiveness of the Lady Geese showed clearly as they continuously stole the ball from the Rebels.
At the end of half-time and the beginning of the third period, the Geese continued to keep the lead without wavering with the score of 28-15. They maintained their momentum the rest of the game, finishing with a 20-point lead.
The leading scorer of the game was sophomore Lana Scott with 16 points, four of these being three-point shots. Scott, Lajaya Angel, Kendall Vincent and Emilia Escareno each hit a three-pointer, showing how the Geese can score from all levels of the court.
The Lady Geese quickly took the lead in the second period and held it as the game continued. Their aggression and sharp shooting helped them finish strong.
They now have a 2-1 Lincon Trail Conference record with a bright season ahead of them.
