
The Lady Geese ventured outside of the LTC Saturday to take on Morrison and Wethersfield prevailed in the home court matchup, 58-45.
With the win, Wethersfield (19-4) is knocking at the door of back-to-back 20-win seasons, while Morrison is now 16-11 overall.
In the 12-9 first quarter, senior guard Cora Hodge made two 3-pointers to help give the Lady Geese a slight advantage.
Wethersfield expanded their lead to 10 points at the halftime break (32-22). Lana Scott found range on two 3-pointers in the second quarter and Lajaya Angel sank one en route to scoring seven in the frame.
Camryn Veltrop, Morrison’s talented 6’2″ junior forward scored 11 points in the second quarter and 16 at the half.
Angel took over the 3-point shooting duties in the third quarter. The junior forward nailed three treys as the Wethersfield lead grew to 15 at 46-31 by the end of the third quarter.
In all, the Lady Geese connected on 10 three-pointers throughout the game (six in the first half).
Morrison outscored Wethersfield 14-12 in the final eight minutes of play, but the Lady Geese were in the driver’s seat and went on to win 58-45.
Veltrop scored 14 more points in the second half to bring her final total of the game to 30 points.
Angel led the Lady Geese with 19 points, Scott followed with 15 and Kennady Anderson chipped in with 10 in the win.
