
Wethersfield senior sharpshooter Paige Huffman had herself a night.
Thanks, in large part, to Huffman’s 3-point shooting prowess, the Lady Geese jumped out to a 36-14 halftime lead and went on defeat Ridgewood 55-25.
Huffman drilled two 3-pointers to help Wethersfield to a 17-8 first quarter lead. She made three more treys as the Lady Geese outscored the Spartans 19-6 in the second frame and led 36-14 at the half.
Lajaya Angel added seven first half points for Wethersfield, while Brynlee Wirt led the Ridgewood with six. Kendall Vincent and Mackenzie Peck each added four.
Senior Kennady Anderson scored eight third quarter points as the Wethersfield lead grew to 49-19 after three quarters of play.
For the game, Wethersfield drained 10 shots from beyond the arc. Huffman made the bulk of them (seven) for a game-high 21 points.
Anderson chipped in with 12 points and Angel scored nine. Wirt led Ridgewood with nine points. Heidi Leander and Peck each scored seven.
The Lady Geese are now 21-4 on the season and 7-2 in the Lincoln Trail. Ridgewood is 13-12 and 2-7.
Frosh-soph
The Wethersfield frosh-soph team moved to 17-1 after beating Ridgewood 37-34.
Emilia Escareno led the Lady Geese with 15 points and Lana Scott followed with 14 in the win.
