Lady Geese pull out win against United

Monmouth (United) held a slim 29-27 lead after three quarters of play, but Wethersfield used a 13-3 final quarter to pull out the 40-32 conference win. 

The win is No. 20 on the season for the Lady Geese (20-4) and they improve to 6-2 in LTC play. United falls to 11-9 overall and 2-5 in conference play.

Both teams got off to a slow start as United led 7-2 in the first quarter. The Lady Geese started to find their footing in the second quarter and topped United 14-7 while gaining a 16-14 edge at the half. 

Kennady Anderson led Wethersfield with eight first half points and Lajaya Angel added five.

United turned the tables on Wethersfield again in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Geese 15-11 and taking back the lead at 29-27. 

Anderson scored eight big points in the fourth quarter and Lana Scott went 4-6 at the line to secure the win. 

Anderson was the high-scorer of the night with 17 points. Angel tossed in nine and Lana Scott made four of six free throws down the stretch. 

Flynn led United with eight points. 

Wednesday night Wethersfield will host Ridgewood (13-11, 2-5) at 7 p.m. 

Frosh-soph

The Lady Geese frosh-soph team advanced to 16-1 after posting a 50-17 blowout win over Ridgewood. 

Emelia Escareno scored 18, Lana Scott added 15 and Ashley Oliver chipped in with seven.
