KHS wrestlers on a roll

The Kewanee High School wrestling team began last Thursday hosting Sherard and Mercer County for a triangular meet in Brockman Gym. The Boilers defeated Sherard (46-27) and Mercer Country (57- 24). 

Kewanee was back in action the next day, hosting Alleman Catholic and Riverdale for another triangular meet. The Boilers stayed hot, defeating Alleman (66-9) and Riverdale (45-29).

The wrestlers traveled to Seneca for the Seneca Irish Invite to end the week. The team placed first of the 20 schools competing, and 11 wrestlers finished in the top six of their weight classes, seven of which placed first or second.

The Boiler Girls were also in action on Saturday. They traveled to Princeton’s invitational, where junior Ra’Kiya Amos placed sixth in her weight class of 150 pounds.

The Boilermaker wrestlers will be back in action twice this week. They will host a dual against Illinois Valley Central on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Good’s Gym and then travel to Porta High School for a tournament on Saturday.
