The Boiler Girls hosted the Kewanee Tennis Invitational Saturday at Northeast Park. United Township won the quadrangular with 73 points, KHS was second with 68, Streator third with 55 and Galesburg was fourth with 44.

“The scoring is a total of all games won by each member of the team,” said KHS Coach Donna Havelka. “It’s an unorthodox way of scoring, but this meant to be a fun tournament before conference and sectionals start,” added Havelka.

Amaris Sanchez was first in the No. 2 singles event. In No. 2 doubles play, Rachel DeRycke and Stephanie Espinoza also placed first. The No. 1 doubles team of Andrea Lang and Maddie Chapman took fourth place.

Kewanee hosts Streator today for their last home meet of the season. The matches begin 4 p.m. and are held at the Northeast Park tennis courts. The team’s 11 seniors will be honored.
