By The Kewanee Voice    September 17, 2024

The Boilermakers soccer team visited Sterling Saturday morning and fell short by a score of 5-1.

“Sterling looked very strong, making the Kewanee defense work early in the game,” Coach Jesus Bermudez said. “Kewanee was playing hard with the mentality of winning, but it was Sterling who scored first.”

The Golden Warriors scored five times, and for most of the game the Boilermakers couldn’t score despite having what their coach described as “six good arrivals to the Sterling goal, almost scoring every single time, almost at the end of the game.”

Kewanee’s Alonso Corral passed all the defense “like he had done it a couple of times earlier,” Bermudez said. “but this time he scored, moving the score 1-5.”

Stats:

Goal: Alonso Corral at minute 37 of second half.

Dillon Price had 13 saves.

Six shots on goal

Kewanee’s JV team also played and lost 4-1. Kewanee’s goal was scored by Demarion Thomas.
