The Kewanee High School soccer team recently recorded two shutout victories, outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 15-0.

On Saturday, KHS traveled to Peoria for a match with Peoria Manual.

In a 10-0 win, KHS was led in scoring by Cristian Cazares, who added three goals to his career KHS scoring record.

Also scoring goals against Manual were Michael Bermudez, 2; and Isidro Martinez, Jack Coombes, Tony Moran, Jackson Price and JJ Roginski, 1 apiece.

The Boilers had 11 shots for the game, and goalie Dillon Price had two saves.

Assists went to Tyson Currie and Moran (3 apiece), Cazares (2) and Roginski.

On Monday, the Boilers hosted Princeton at Kewanee Stadium and won 5-0.

Coach Jose Bermudez said that as far as he knew, Kewanee had never beaten Princeton in soccer.

Cazares added three more goals. He started early, scoring in the game’s first two minutes.

“The Boilers fought every second of the game in each area of the field, making Princeton run after the ball,” Bermudez said. “Kewanee had complete dominion of the game,” he added, and said Price had “only a couple of easy saves.”

Bermudez and Martinez had the other two goals for the Boilers. Roginski (2), Cazares, Martinez and Currie each had assists.

Price had seven saves in all.
