This weekend will be a big one for several outstanding Kewanee High School athletes of yesterday.
The KHS Athletic Hall of Fame Committee has invited outstanding individual athletes and a championship team of the past to be honored at the events of the weekend.
To be honored are:
Distinguished Alumni – Nathan Breed ’93, Eric Welgat ’84 and Nicholas Welgat ’00; Coach – Kirk Fristad; Friends – Good’s Furniture and Jerry Salisbury; Male Athletes – Cal Breedlove ’12, Steve Kuffel ’83 and Dontae Pryor ’12; Female Athletes – Gloria Guy ’78, Karen (Peart) Krager ’77 and Freya (Block) Watson ’13; Team – 1993-94 Football.
On Friday evening, the honorees and their guests are invited to the home football game at 7 p.m., when Kewanee will play the Princeton Tigers. The honorees will be introduced prior to the varsity football game.
On Saturday, the honorees and their guests will enjoy a social hour at Kewanee High School beginning at 4 p.m. and attend an invitation only banquet at 5 p.m. in HF Brockman Gym. The banquet is catered by The Downtown Eatery and Bakery of Kewanee.
Following the banquet, the honorees will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at a ceremony beginning at 6:15 p.m. The induction ceremony will be held in Petersen Auditorium and is open to the public.
