KHS freshman boys win at Fulton

By The Kewanee Voice    December 7, 2023

The freshman Boilermaker boys travelled to Fulton Thursday night to face the Steamers and came away with a 55-34 victory.

Ten Boilers scored, led by Leeam Slover, who connected on four of the team’s eight three-pointers.

‘Tonight was a great team win,’ Coach Aaron Pratt said. “I thought we shared the ball well on offense and weren’t afraid to take the open looks, but the real key to tonight was our defense.”

Pratt added that the team is “Really starting to find our groove on that end of the floor.”

He said, “While we shot the ball well tonight, we have struggled offensively to start the season and little practice time makes it difficult to work the bugs out. I’ve got a solid group of kids though who have found ways to get it done in different ways. It’s great to see the improvements from them on a game to game basis.”

The freshman Boilermakers are now 4-2 on the season and will be back in action Tuesday at home against the Geneseo Maple Leafs.
