Wethersfield High School has released its 2023 Homecoming Court, as well as a list of next week’s events and activities.

The WHS Homecoming Court are freshmen Elsie Nelson and Collin Hodge; sophomores Emilia Escareno and Joshua Cervantes, juniors Jillian Taylor and Riley Rumbold, and seniors Kennady Anderson, Ryker Gillespie, Cora Hodge, Colin Hornback, Sophie Nimrick and Dillon Horrie. The FFA King and Sweetheart are Drew Haverback and Traidan Hier.

WHS Homecoming week is Oct. 2-6 and will take on a Halloween theme, “A Nightmare on Willard Street.” Each day will provide a different opportunity for students to show off their school spirit.

On Monday, students will observe “Generations Day.” Seniors are asked to dress up as senior citizens, while juniors will dress as moms and dads. Sophomores are asked to dress as elementary children and freshmen, of course, should come dressed as babies.

On Tuesday, WHS will play off two summer hit movies by offering “Barbenheimer Day.” Students can run the work or change the world by dressing up in their best barbie costume or by dressing in an Oppenheimer outfit.

On Wednesday it’s costume day. Students can go creepy or cute and choose their best Halloween costume, while Thursday, it’s “Class T-Shirt Day.” Students will wear their class colors with seniors wearing black; juniors wearing white, sophomores wearing dark red and freshmen donning navy blue.

On Friday, “Titan Spirit” reigns. Students are asked to show up in all of their Titan gear.

Yet another activity throughout the week will be “Clash of the Classes.” Classes will battle for a Championship trophy. Each class can earn points for participating in events and dress up days. Points will also be awarded for the Kick-Off Assembly and Generations Day on Monday, Barbenheimer Day, hallway decorations, class skit and tug of war.

In addition, a fundraiser for WHS Resource Officer, Chris Woods, will decide if teacher, Mr. Phelps, shaves his head. Students are asked to donate to a fund, but there is a $500 minimum for head shaving. If the donations exceed that amount, get the clippers out because Mr. Phelps will shave his head at the Homecoming Kick-Off Assembly on Monday, Oct. 2 at 1 pm.

Skit Night is set for Thursday, Oct. 5 at the high school gym at 7 pm. Friday, Oct. 6 is the Homecoming Parade at 1:15 pm. Pre-game Court announcements will be made at 6:15 pm on the football field. The Homecoming game begins at 7 pm and Wethersfield will take on Farmington High School. The Homecoming Dance will take place on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 8-11 pm in the WHS gym.
