The Boilermakers hosted the IVC Grey Ghosts Tuesday night and came out on the losing end of the non-conference match up, 52-47. Both teams are now 5-4 on the season.
“I thought we struggled most of the night at both ends of the court. It just felt like we couldn’t string together multiple possessions in a row to get our confidence going,” said Kewanee Coach Matt Clark.
Although the Boilers had difficulty getting into an offensive flow, the game was close throughout and the teams played to a 19-point halftime tie. The Grey Ghosts outscored Kewanee 20-16 in the third quarter and held a slim 39-35 lead with one quarter left to play.
Braden Clark scored nine points in the third frame and Davontae Jordan added five.
IVC scored just enough points in the final quarter (13-12) to put the game away.
“Give credit to Coach Morrow and his team. He had a good game plan to pack the lane and keep us from driving and kicking for open threes,” said Clark. “With their size, they can play that way which forces tough shots in the lane.”

Unlike the last two games, the Boilers struggled shooting from the perimeter. “It’s a long season and percentages usually balance out,” added Clark. “We shot the ball well the past two games (making 22 threes) that the averages caught up to us tonight.”
Clark scored a game-high 15 points and Jordan chipped in with nine. Stephen Braun had 12 for IVC and Brady Ward added 10 points.
