
The Wethersfield Geese entered conference play Thursday night and came away with a 79-76 home win over ROWVA.
The Geese put up 44 first half points in the high scoring affair. They led 22-15 in the first quarter and extended the lead to 44-33 at the half.
Wethersfield caught fire early and made five 3-pointers in the opening frame. Two of them were compliments of Kellan Keane.
In the 22-18 second quarter, Dillon Horrie led Wethersfield with seven points (11 in the first half). Colin Hornback and Castin Rash each added five as the Geese enjoyed an 11-point lead at the break.
Donner scored 13 of ROWVA’s 18 second quarter points and he racked up 17 in the first half.
ROWVA came out strong after the break and outscored Wethersfield 27-17 in the third quarter. The Cougars had balanced scoring from Hall (8), Danner (7) and Traphager (6), but the Geese maintained a 61-60 lead heading into the final frame.
Wethersfield outscored ROWVA 18-16 down the stretch and hung on for the 79-76 win. Zeb Rashid scored eight points in the fourth quarter (11 in the second half) and Landon Sauer added six.

The Geese had five players scored in double digits. Horrie and Sauer each had 14, Rashid had 13, and Keane and Hornback scored a dozen a piece.
Danner led all scorers with 28 points, Hall had 22 and Traphager added 11 for the Cougars.
The Geese are now 5-6 (1-0) and ROWVA-Williamsfield is 8-6 (3-3).
