In a game packed with grit, tension, and suspense, the Geese narrowly fell to the RW Cougars in a double-overtime battle that left fans on the edge of their seats. The final score read 71-63 in favor of the Cougars, but the journey to that number was one of determination and tight play throughout.
The opening half showcased both teams’ strong defensive presence. The Geese found contributions from players like Mikinis of Rowva Williamsfield and Hornback of Wethersfield, who scored consistently to keep the game close. The Cougars relied heavily on Bradshaw and Johnson, both of whom managed to make key shots under pressure. At halftime, the scoreboard reflected the defensive struggle, with the Cougars holding a slim 25-22 lead.
The second half saw both offenses come alive. The Geese leaned on Hodge and Hornback, with Hodge sinking clutch baskets to pull the team back into contention. The Cougars, however, answered with scoring runs led by Walker and Bell, pushing their lead before the Geese clawed their way back in the final minutes. Regulation ended in a thrilling tie, 53-53, forcing overtime.
In the first overtime, fatigue set in, but neither team backed down. The Cougars had their chances to seal the game early, but missed opportunities kept the door open for the Geese. Mikinis nailed critical free throws to keep the game level at 59-59 heading into the second overtime.
The second overtime belonged to the RW Cougars. They capitalized on turnovers and forced errors from the Geese while Nixon and Bradshaw hit decisive shots. Despite their best efforts, the Geese were outscored 12-4 in the final overtime, resulting in the 71-63 defeat.
The Geese showed heart and determination, pushing a strong RW Cougars team to the brink. While the Cougars walked away with the victory, the Geese proved their mettle in one of the most exciting games of the season.
