By Michael Berry    November 15, 2024

Kewanee’s Coltin Quagliano and three of his teammates on the University of Illinois baseball team are offering a baseball camp next month at The Lott, located at 110 E. 10th St.

Boys and girls are welcome to take part in the camp, which will cover hitting and fielding.

The camps will be on Saturday, Dec. 7. A session for ages 8 to 13 will run from noon to 2 p.m., and for players 14-18 from 2-4 p.m.

Cost of the camp is $80 per player. Those wishing to attend can RSVP to cquagli705@gmail.com.

Quagliano, who was a two-year starter on the baseball team at Illinois Central College and now is an infielder on the U of I team, will be joined at the camp by:

— Brody Harding, a five-year starter at U of I who is currently with the Grand Junction Jackalopes semipro team.

— Jack Crowder, a four-year starter at Illinois who now plays in the Baltimore Orioles organization; and

— Cal Hejza. a four-year starter at U of I and a Golden Gloves finalist.

Quagliano was a standout athlete at Wethersfield High School, where he was the quarterback on the football team, on the list of all-time leading scorers in basketball and one of the stars on the Annawan-Wethersfield baseball team.

As a junior at Illinois last year he batted .304 with an OPS of .849 and nine homers. His 55 RBIs led the team, and he was second on the team in at-bats with 214.
