
Senior All-State guard, Shelby Bowman, made her presence known Wednesday night during Lincoln Trail Conference Tourney play at Biggsville.
The West Central standout lit up the scoreboard for 48 points in a 62-48 win over Wethersfield (17-3, 5-1).
The Heat (13-5, 6-0) will now take on Annawan (18-4, 5-1) Saturday in the LTC Tourney championship game at 5:30 pm.
The Bravettes prevailed in their semifinal game against Princeville, 59-54, to earn their spot in the title game.
The Lady Geese will take on Princeville for third place honors Saturday at 4 p.m. Both games will be played at the West Central High School gym.
West Central 62, Wethersfield 48
The Lady Geese kept pace with the Heat for the first two quarters of play during Wednesday’s semifinals action.
West Central crept ahead 12-11 in the first quarter and held a five point advantage (29-24) at the break.
Shelby Bowman (who averages 30 points a game) put up 10 first quarter points and a dozen more in the second frame, effectively scoring 22 of her team’s 29 first-half points.
Wethersfield senior Paige Huffman scored 11 of her 14 points during the first half of play and junior Lajaya Angel scored six.
The Lady Geese were still within reach in the third quarter at 45-36, but West Central began to gradually pull away.
Bowman continued her scoring onslaught in the second half, scoring 14 in the third quarter and 12 more in the fourth to fill out her 48-point effort.
Angel added six more to her total in the third quarter for Wethersfield and senior Kennady Anderson scored 10 in the final frame.
No other player for West Central scored in double figures in the win. Samantha Meyer tallied six in support.
Anderson topped the Lady Geese with 16 points, while Huffman and Angel each scored 14.
