The game was tied early, but LaSalle-Peru pulled away in the second quarter on the way to a 50-33 win over Kewanee Wednesday.
“We were locked into a back and forth first quarter where we found ourselves tied 14-14 headed to the second quarter,” said Kewanee Coach Dayton Ince.
The Boilers scored just two points in the second quarter and LaSalle-Peru took a seven-point lead into the half,23-16.
“With more of the same,” Ince said, “LaSalle got out to a quick start after the intermission to extend the lead to 17 by the end of the third quarter, 39-22.”
“We battled in the fourth quarter and had a few opportunities to get the deficit under 10 but couldn’t capitalize,” Ince said.
