Kewanee High School hosted a five-team track meet Thursday night. Kewanee prevailed in the girls’ meet with 96 points and also won the boys’ meet with 110 points.
The Boilermakers scored a combined 206 to win the 5-team meet.
Scores for the girls’ meet were Kewanee 96, Stark County 76, Farmington 42, Mendota 34 and Galva 14.
Kewanee dominated the jumping events, finishing first and second in both the long jump and triple jump. Danielle Jo Currier won both events, while Kolbie Cernovich was second in the long jump and Claire Taylor had a runner-up effort in the triple jump.
The Boiler Girls also had a one-two finish in the 300 meter hurdles. Rachel DeRycke (53.46) edged out Jendayia Crowe (53.55) for first place.
Other first place finishes for Kewanee were by Melissa Fragoso in the 400 meter dash, Nolie Charlet in the 800 meter run and the 4×100 relay. Members of the relay are Claire Taylor, Danielle Jo Currier, Jendayia Crowe and Tejhiana Amos.
Stark County was dominant in the distance and throwing events. Dusti Smith and Cheyenh Smith finished first and second in the 1600 meter run and Alexis Martinez prevailed in the 3200 meter run.
The Rebels packed a one-two punch in the shot put and discus. Chelsey Stotler had the winning effort in the shot put and Lauren Orwig placed second. It was reversed in the discus, with Orwig (98′ 10.25″) edging out Stotler (98′ 6.25″) for the winning toss.
Stark County also had wins in the 4×400 relay and the 4×800 relay.
