
Wethersfield’s offense was firing on all cylinders Saturday night as the Geese racked up 83 points en route to beating Henry-Senachwine in a non-conference road game, 83-59.
Wethersfield scored 26 points in the second quarter and 24 in the fourth to cruise to the non-conference win. Included in the onslaught were 11 made shots from beyond the arc.
Senior forward Landon Sauer had game scoring honors with 29 points for the Geese.
Wethersfield led 17-9 after one quarter of play and 43-26 at the half. Sauer scored 11 first quarter points and 18 in the first half to lead the Geese.
In Wethersfield’s big 26-point second quarter, the Geese connected on five 3-pointers. Sauer and Kellan Keane each scored eight points (Keane had two treys and Sauer had one). Nathan Oliver had two treys as well.
Lance Kiesewetter had 11 first half points for the Mallards and ten in the second half for a total of 21 points.
Both teams scored 16 in the third quarter, so Wethersfield maintained a 17-point lead heading into the final quarter at 59-42.
Senior point guard Dillon Horrie scored five in the frame (seven in the second half) and Sauer added another five points to his total.
In Wethersfield’s 24-point fourth quarter, eight players scored. Collin Hornback made two 3-pointers and Sauer scored six more points.
Keane finished with 10 points, Horrie added nine and Hornback contributed eight points in the win.
Adding to Kiesewetter’s 21 points were Preston Rowe with 13. Nolan Dunshee had 12 and Parker Krafft added 10 for the Mallards.
The Geese evened their record to 4-4 and Henry is 4-4 on the season as well.
