
Kristina Armstrong of Kewanee High School placed eighth at the IHSA Girls Bowling Regional in Sterling. Armstrong, a junior, is among the 10 individual bowlers to advance to Saturday’s DeKalb Sectional.
The Sterling Regional was held at Paone’s Blackhawk Lanes and the DeKalb Sectional will be held at Mardi Gras Lanes in DeKalb.
The individual regional champion was freshman Sarah Doughty of Sterling, who had a high pin count of 1,369. Armstrong bowled a 985 series en route to her eighth-place finish.
The team winner was LaSalle-Peru with an overall high pin count of 5,875. Kewanee placed 11th out of 13 teams. Teams advancing to the DeKalb Sectional are LaSalle-Peru, Sterling, East Moline and Moline.
Dixon Tournament
The Boiler Girls competed at the Dixon Tournament on Jan. 27 and Armstrong was named “Queen of the Hill,” which is awarded to the bowler who has recorded the most strikes.
Dual meet against Mendota
The Boiler Girls won a dual team meet against Mendota on Jan. 30. No team results were submitted.
