
Several area cross country teams participated in Saturday’s Class 1A Bureau Valley Regional meet in Walnut. Stark County was the only area team to run in the Class 1A Seneca Regional meet.
In the Bureau Valley Regional girls three mile race, Riverdale scored 71 points enroute to winning the team event. Cambridge (Ridgewood) placed sixth with a team total of 126 points and Annawan-Wethersfield was seventh with 136 points.
The top seven teams advance to next Saturday’s Oregon Sectional meet.
Individually, Ridgewood sophomore Emily Downey won the girls three-mile race in a time of 18:41.90. A/W senior Kennady Anderson placed second at 18:53.50.

Ridgewood freshman Jana VandeKemp and Kewanee senior Natalee Martin each had top 10 finishes. VandeKemp placed third in a time of 20:05.00 and Martin was tenth at 21:13.
A/W junior Paige Sierens was 15th in a time of 21:51.90 and Kewanee freshman Nolie Charlet was 21st at 22:36.20.
Martin and Charlet advance to the Oregon Sectional by virtue of being two of the top seven individual runners (not running in the team event).
Rounding out the A/W team are senior Zoey Vance, 54th in a time of 26:11.30, freshman Tyra Church, 60th at 26:43.50, freshman Makenna Verkruyse, 63rd at 27:58.20, junior Ella Anderson, 67th in a time of 36:39.80.
At the Class 1A Seneca Regional, the host team won with a low points total of 31. The Stark County girls team placed second with a score of 42. The Lady Rebels advance to next Saturday’s Oregon Sectional.
Evelyn O’Connor of Seneca was the top finisher in a time of 20:02.20. Stark County had three top 10 finishers. Freshman Dusti Smith was third in a time of 20:22.40, sophomore Cheyenh Smith placed eighth at 22:27.20 and junior Alexis Martin was 10th in a time of 22:47.30.
